Autism is a mental condition that often makes communicating and forging relationships hard for people. However, this condition clearly does not affect a person's dreams.
5-year-old Maddox has always wanted to be a firefighter, and luckily for him, he lives in a town where the firefighters have hearts of gold.
Although Maddox was diagnosed with autism at a young age, I believe that it's far from apparent in this video. And I'd have to say, I think that's because of the overwhelming happiness he must feel with these people surrounding him.
On his birthday, his mom takes him to the Sacramento Fire Department in order to get his wish and spend a day as a firefighter.
He gets to wear all of the official gear, ride in the truck, spray the water hose, and even gets the "Happy Birthday" song sung for him by everyone in the department at the top of a tower after ringing the big bell!
When you see the smile on his face as you hear all of these brave men singing around him, the energy is truly contagious… Even through the screen.
This little boy brightened my day, and so did these firefighters. Don't you agree?
For some kids, a dog can save them from autism taking over their life in a negative way. For this little boy? I think these firefighters do the trick.
Please SHARE this amazing birthday wish come true if you appreciate men like the Sacramento firefighters!
