9-Year-Old Girl Gets Special Gift From Make-A-Wish Foundation

Just weeks before her birthday, Hailey Torres got the surprise of a lifetime. The 9-year-old is battling a brain tumor and only had one wish. She told Make-A-Wish of Massachusetts and Rhode Island she wanted a puppy to help get her through the painful and tough times as she undergoes rigorous surgeries and treatments.

On Thursday, Hailey's wish was granted. Her family arrived at Boston's Logan Airport, where they met the newest member of her family: a Yorkie-poo puppy (a cross between a Yorkshire terrier and miniature poodle.)

The amazing moment she met the tiny puppy was all captured on camera. Hailey's face instantly lights up upon seeing the puppy, which she's named Asher.

She and her sister sprawled out on the airport floor, giggling with the playful pup, who scampered around. When she picks the dog up, Asher shows her with lots of wet doggy kisses.

"I'm your new mommy," she said, holding the puppy.

Hailey's family was grateful for Make-A-Wish for granting their daughter's wish. Rosario, the girl's mother, said seeing her daughter happy again was a magical moment.

"It's wonderful that she's happy and that she’s going to have a companion to last her a long time," she said.
