Single Father Wears Nail Polish For One Incredible Reason

Single parenting can be difficult, particularly with the responsibility of playing both roles. But that's precisely what makes this story of a single father and his baby girl so touching.

Upworthy brings us a beautiful video of the special bond shared between Nathan and his 6-year-old daughter Sadie, whose nails he paints (and her, his). Despite the side looks and frequent questions about his polish, Nathan has no problem letting Sadie polish his fingertips. He knows it makes her happy.

"I've had people in the past ask, 'Are you in a rock band?' " he says. "When I walk around with them, I look at the ones she's painted, I think of her, and that's really nice. It's like a way of taking her around with me."

He also explains that little boys frequently approach him and tell him that nail polish is for girls. He explains with a good sense of humor that he's very much a man, and he still sports it when his little girl whips out the polish.

When he asks his daughter what her response to critics is, she replies, "There's no boy color or girl color." (Smart kid!)

"As a single dad, raising a really strong, confident woman is super important for me," he says. "Making sure she's got great, but also being a great role model is the primary goal."
