You never know what you're going to get when you walk into a new restaurant.
Is the food going to be good? Is the wait staff polite? Will your bill come to a reasonable amount or will you have to sell your firstborn for a nice cut of steak?
These are things that go through your mind, but something you might not think about is whether or not you'll make a new friend.
Well, when Colin Ross' hangover drew him toward the greasy goodness of a fish and chips dinner, he never thought he'd be able to make a difference in the owner's life.
Ross walked into Whitbie's Fish & Chips in Alberta, Canada, to find the place completely empty except for the 69-year-old owner, John McMillan.
Ross couldn't understand why such a nice place had so few customers, so he offered to help McMillian do some marketing.
When McMillan declined, Ross took it upon himself to share his review of the restaurant with his 2,000 Facebook friends and the rest is history.
Take a look at the story below…
Colin Ross was simply looking to take the edge off his hangover with some greasy food when he walked into Whitbie's Fish & Chips for the first time.
What he found when he walked into the little shop was owner John McMillan sitting by himself in the empty restaurant. Ross asked McMillan if he could help him out with some marketing to draw in some customers, but 69-year-old McMillan declined his offer.
Though McMillan, pictured here, admitted that business hadn't been going well, he wasn't interested in any kind of marketing or advertising tips.
That's when Ross took it upon himself to write a glowing review of Whitbie's and share it with his 2,000 Facebook friends. The response he got was immediate!
(It probably didn't hurt that he also posted this amazing picture of his meal. Look at those french fries!)
Just two days after his original post, Ross shared this image of a line at Whitbie's — it goes straight out the door! Needless to say, things are looking up for McMillan and his sweet little fish and chips shop.
