Meghan Markle Reveals Archie Was Almost The Victim Of A House Fire While In South Africa

Meghan Markle recently revealed in the first episode of her new podcast that back in 2019, Archie was almost the victim of a house fire.

As Meghan tells the story, she and Harry were at the first official engagement for the royal family while in South Africa, and a nanny was at home with a then 4-month-old Archie.

She explains, "There was this moment where I'm standing on a tree stump and I'm giving this speech to women and girls, and we finish the engagement, we get in the car and they say there's been a fire at the residence."

She continues, "What? There's been a fire in the baby's room. What?"

Meghan and Harry quickly returned home, and their nanny, Lauren, told them that she was about to put Archie down for his nap when she decided to take the baby with her to get a snack instead. While they were getting the snack, a heater in Archie's room caught on fire.

After the fire, she and Harry had to keep going. "Everyone's in tears, everyone's shaken. And what do we have to do? Go out and do another official engagement. I said, 'This doesn't make any sense. Can you just tell people what happened?' … And even though we were being moved to another place afterwards, we still had to leave him and go do another official engagement."
