The royal family is notoriously private. Any information that does come out to the public is typically carefully crafted and revealed through a third party. That's why the opportunity to hear Meghan Markle talk about her beautiful royal wedding is too good to pass up. If you find yourself in Scotland, the chance is all yours. Meghan has lent her voice to the audio guide for A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland.
Meghan and Harry's big day was just over a year ago. Approximately 600 guests watched along with millions around the world as the two exchanged vows at St. George's Chapel in Windsor Castle. In the audio guide, Harry and Meghan both get a chance to speak about the detail that went into that day. On display at the exhibit are Harry's and Meghan's outfits from the wedding ceremony, along with Prince George's suit and Princess Charlotte's dress.
It's been a little over a year since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle became husband and wife. There's still a lot of interest in the couple's special day.
An exhibit was created so that the public could see items on display from the couple's nuptials. A Royal Wedding: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex was presented at Windsor Castle from late October through mid-February.
Now the exhibit is on display at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland. There, fans of the Earl and Countess of Dumbarton (as they're known in Scotland) can also hear Harry and Meghan speak about their special day.
Meghan and Harry recorded the exhibition's audio guide. As fans examine the items on display, they can hear Meghan and Harry dish about what happened behind the scenes.
The exhibit features Meghan's wedding dress and veil, crafted by Clare Waight Keller, artistic director at Givenchy. The diamond-and-platinum bandeau tiara Queen Elizabeth lent Meghan is also available for the public to see.
Meghan felt the details made all the difference the day of. "A great level of detail went into the planning of our wedding day," the Duchess of Sussex explains.
She goes on to explain, "We knew how large the scale of the event would be, so in making choices that were really personal and meaningful, it could make the whole experience feel intimate."
Harry's outfit from the special day is also on display. Harry wore the uniform of the Household Cavalry (the Blues and Royals), made by Dege & Skinner.
Harry explains the choice in his recording. He says: "I chose the frock coat as a uniform, with permission from my grandmother, because I think it’s one of the smartest Household Cavalry uniforms. It’s one of my favorites, and I was very fortunate to be able to wear that on the day."
Harry's and Meghan's outfits aren't the only ones on display. Prince George and Princess Charlotte, who served as pageboy and bridesmaid, have outfits on display as well.
Prince George wore an exact replica of Harry's uniform. His initials, GC, are embroidered in gold thread on the epaulets. Meghan's recording reveals that it was Harry's idea to add the touch: "Such a beautiful keepsake for them."
Princess Charlotte wore an ivory Givenchy dress with shoes by Aquazurra. The soles of her shoes were embroidered with her initials and the wedding date.
Harry jokes about everyone's surprise at their well-behaved bridal party. He notes, "We had 10 bridesmaids and page boys under the age of 7, which everybody says is impossible to have them behaving, but they did it!"
"It was a miracle!" laughs Meghan. The duchess was certainly right about every detail playing into the perfection that was their wedding day.
