People Can’t Stop Wondering Why Meghan Markle Wasn’t Wearing Her Engagement Ring At Recent Event

Meghan Markle had a very special Commonwealth Day. It was her second as a member of the royal family and was filled with many events. Prince Harry and Meghan began their day at Canada House, celebrating the holiday with young Canadians who live in the UK. Following the fun-filled event, she stopped back home for a quick wardrobe change before heading to Westminster Abbey. There, she enjoyed a beautiful (and emotional) service alongside the rest of the royal family.

There was something else about Meghan's appearance that hawk-eyed royal watchers noticed during the day's events. It appeared that Meghan did not wear her custom-designed engagement ring to the event. It is very uncommon for her to be seen without it, so it set off some alarms. Fans speculated about a number of reasons why the duchess might have decided to leave the ring behind, from trouble in her marriage to having lost it somewhere. But the real answer is likely much more simple.

Harry and Meghan enjoyed their time with the kids there, then changed outfits before attending a service at Westminster Abbey. Meghan wore a Victoria Beckham black-and-white dress with a matching white pillbox hat and a long coat.

Hawk-eyed royal watchers noticed that something was missing from Meghan's otherwise chic maternity look: The Duchess of Sussex wasn't wearing her engagement ring.

The beautiful ring hasn't seemed to have left Meghan's finger since the day the couple announced their engagement. The first glimpses of it were seen during their engagement photo call in the Kensington Palace Sunken Garden.

Prince Harry designed the ring himself, and every detail is significant. He chose a yellow gold band, as it's Meghan's favorite metal.

The center stone of the ring comes from Botswana. The couple took a special trip there early in their relationship, so the country plays an important role in the story of their relationship.

The side stones are from a collection of diamonds that once belonged to Harry's mother, the late Princess Diana. The couple touched on how important including Diana in their relationship has been during their engagement interview with the BBC.

"It's so important to me to know that she's a part of this with us… It's incredibly special," Meghan said at the time.

Harry asked for Meghan's hand in marriage with the stunning 6.5-carat ring in early November 2017. They were married the following May.

Many fans of the duchess really love the ring and its significance. That's why they were the first to notice it was absent from her finger during Commonwealth Day celebrations.

Some speculated that the absence of the ring could be an indicator of trouble in Harry and Meghan's relationship. But this seems highly unlikely, as the duchess was still wearing her wedding band and looked quite happy being on Harry's arm.

The more likely reason was very evident to experienced mothers out there. Many reason that Meghan's ring is likely a bit too snug these days as she enters the final weeks of her pregnancy.

Fans were also quick to point out that she's not the only royal to have done this. Kate Middleton was also seen without her engagement ring in the later days of her pregnancies.

It seems like all is well in the house of Sussex. Now all that's left to do is wait for the arrival of the newest member of the royal family in the upcoming weeks!
