Meghan Markle’s Post-Baby Workout Routine Is Surprisingly Gentle, Says Royal Expert

Meghan Markle is in no rush to get back to her pre-baby body.

The Duchess of Sussex gave birth to baby Archie in May. Before becoming a mom, Meghan was super into fitness. She especially enjoyed running and yoga. But nowadays, she's more focused on the baby than working out.

Meghan has been "taking it easy" since the birth, according to royal expert Katie Nicholl. She has a "holistic" and "gentle" approach to motherhood, which means that she's not in a hurry to get back to her old workout routine and old body.

Her post-baby workout routine is surprisingly simple. Instead of jumping back into hardcore exercise, she's been doing some light yoga, including yoga with the baby. Mom Doria Ragland, a yoga instructor, reportedly learned how to teach postpartum yoga and baby yoga specifically for Meghan.

Also, the new mom has been taking plenty of "proud walks" around Windsor Great Park.

"She's apparently not in any hurry to ping back into shape," Katie said. "She's enjoying this time. She's being gentle to herself."

Doesn't that sound lovely?!

You probably already know that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcomed their first baby awhile back. He's a baby boy, and his name is Archie.

Archie is now a month old, and Meghan has been pretty under the radar since he arrived. She has made only two public appearances since giving birth.

The first was to introduce Archie to the world with Harry by her side. They posed for photos two days after Archie's birth.

The second was to attend Trooping the Colour 2019 to celebrate the Queen's birthday.

According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, Meghan has been "taking it easy." She's in no rush to get back to her old routine, and that includes her old workout routine.

Meghan normally loves working out, Katie told ET.

"Before she fell pregnant, you know, Meghan was very fit," Katie said. "She was very into her fitness regime."

"She used to run around in the park in Kensington," Katie added.

But since having Archie, Meghan has been "taking it easy" with relaxed fitness activities instead. She's more focused on her baby.

"And I hear that yoga is very much on her post-birth fitness regime — nothing too strenuous," Katie said.

"Meghan hasn't been hitting the gym. She hasn't been in any hurry to get back in shape. It's only four weeks really since the birth and she's been taking that exercise regime very gently, indeed," Katie explained.

Yoga would be the natural choice for Meghan to gradually ease back into things, because her mom Doria Ragland is a yoga teacher. Doria apparently learned some new techniques just for Meghan.

"Apparently Doria took up postpartum yoga and baby yoga, and that's all Meghan has been doing," Katie said.

"And lots of proud walks around Windsor Great Park, so, gentle exercise, but no hard training, no weights," Katie added. "She's apparently not in any hurry to ping back into shape. She's enjoying this time. She's being gentle to herself."

"As I say, the whole approach has been holistic, it has been gentle," she added. "It's been a natural embracing of motherhood, and with that has come a pretty gentle routine."

That sounds like exactly what Meghan deserves to do!

She's also been skipping out on most royal events, because she's still on maternity leave. Her leave will likely last for three to five months, People reports.

Harry, on the other hand, has continued to make public appearances and travel to other countries.

Sometimes, though, they both skip out on events to enjoy time at home with Archie. They were both missing from the 2019 Royal Ascot, for example.

Fans might be wondering why Meghan came to Trooping the Colour if she's on maternity leave. That's likely because it's just THAT important of an event.

"Meghan is on maternity leave, but Trooping is a family occasion," a source told People. "You don't skip the Queen's birthday. She's the Queen!"

Fair enough!
