Meghan Markle's engagement ring has been a point of fascination since the moment Prince Harry popped the question. In their engagement interview, Harry revealed how deeply personal the ring was. He spoke at length about the symbolism he put into crafting the 6.5-carat stunner (including nods to his mother, Princess Diana, and the place he and Meghan fell in love).
There was even speculation of trouble in paradise when Meghan was spotted without her ring toward the end of her pregnancy. It was likely swelling that prevented the Duchess of Sussex from wearing her ring. Could that have also led to her getting an altogether new one?
When Meghan attended Trooping the Colour, fans noticed her wearing a different ring on her left ring finger. It was later revealed to be an eternity band. Prince Harry had given it to her as a gift on their first wedding anniversary.
However, some fans also took a closer look at Meghan's engagement ring and noticed some changes. There are now questions circulating as to whether she had her original engagement ring updated or if she has a lookalike ring she's been wearing since giving birth.
From the moment that news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement was announced, people were dying to see her engagement ring. Many fans of the royal family wondered if it would be as iconic as Princess Diana's sapphire, which was presented to Kate Middleton as her engagement ring.
Harry thoughtfully designed Meghan's ring, as he would go on to explain during their engagement interview with the BBC. The ring has a yellow gold band, Harry explained, because it's Meghan's favorite.
Each of the stones also held special meaning. "The main stone itself I sourced from Botswana," Harry explained, "and the little diamonds either side are from my mother’s jewelry collection to make sure that she’s with us on this crazy journey together."
Meghan explained how much it meant to her to have those pieces from Diana's collection included. She said, "I think everything about Harry’s thoughtfulness is — and the inclusion of that, and obviously not being able to meet his mom — it’s so important to me to know that she’s a part of this with us."
The ring was beautiful on Meghan's finger, and it was joined later by her wedding band. Recently, however, people have noticed some changes to Meghan's rings.
During Commonwealth Day celebrations, fans noticed Meghan wore only her wedding band. Despite speculation that it could indicate trouble in the marriage, many recognized that it was likely she was having trouble wearing the engagement ring due to the swelling that happens in the late stages of pregnancy.
When Harry and Meghan introduced their baby, Archie Harrison, to the world, many were captivated with the newborn. It distracted from some changes that had occurred on Meghan's ring finger.

At Trooping the Colour, the duchess (who is still on maternity leave) made a rare appearance, and some fans spotted a new addition to Meghan's rings. Harry had gifted Meghan with an eternity band to celebrate their first wedding anniversary.
This wasn't a huge surprise, as Prince William also gifted his wife, Kate Middleton, with an eternity band after she gave birth to Prince George in 2013.

What fans didn't expect were the changes in Meghan's engagement ring. The ring, once set on a Welsh yellow gold band, now seems to be set on a diamond micro-pavé band.

There are two possibilities for what may have happened. One possibility is that Meghan had a second ring made to look like the first so that she could wear it until she can fit into her original ring again.

The other possibility is that Meghan simply decided she wanted a different band. The extra diamonds on the band play well with the diamonds in her eternity ring.
There was another prominent ring on display recently. In the photo the Sussexes shared on Father's Day, Harry can be seen wearing his platinum wedding band. This is unusual, since many of the other men in the royal family do not wear rings.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex may be playing with their rings, but they aren't playing when it comes to their commitment to each other and their little family. We can't wait to see more of them when Meghan returns from maternity leave and they embark on their royal tour of Africa.
