Meghan Markle’s Netflix Show Sidelines Prince Harry, Treats Him Like A ‘Spare Part’

Prince Harry is once again on the bench. Even if With Love, Meghan is the (highly contested) series of Meghan Markle, viewers could not help but notice the role of King Charles’ second son, once again sidelined, ‘spare,’ as he defines himself in his scandalous autobiography.

In the much-criticized Netflix program, which already has a second season in store, the prince appears every now and then in the background of the shots, often together with other people, as if he were any guest in the Duchess of Sussex’s house (or rather, “Meghan Sussex,” as the former Meghan Markle specified).

Harry is as if “shrunken,” observes Shane Watson in an editorial in the Times, expressing concern for his brief appearances in the program: “The second season of With Love, Meghan has just been confirmed and, like it or not, there is no denying that Meghan has worked all her life to achieve this result: to embody a lifestyle icon.” “On the other hand” — he glosses — “Harry appears like a spare part. Just blink and you’ll miss him. Not only that, he’s stuck at the back of the crowd of guests during the closing party. He looks shrunken, unsure of what is expected of him.”
