Woman Is Stabbed 32 Times Before Firefighter Saves Her. 5 Years Later, They Stand At The Altar

Most couples meet through friends, at parties, or even through work. For Melissa Dohme and Cameron Hill, the way they first met was definitely not traditional by any means.

To say that Melissa was in an abusive relationship would be an understatement. It was a violent relationship that almost killed her. One night, she was stabbed 32 times by a man who was her boyfriend at the time. She was struggling to survive until a group of dedicated first responders arrived to help her pull through. She ended up in the hospital, not expecting to meet the love of her life through tragedy.

One of the men who rescued her right after her brutal attack was a firefighter named Cameron Hill. That night, he saved a life, but never expected to change his own.

Melissa and her firefighter hero stayed in touch and eventually developed a solid relationship following the harrowing experience. Their interest in each other blossomed and a few years later, Cameron proposed to Melissa after she threw the first pitch at a Tampa Bay Rays baseball game to bring awareness to domestic violence.

The two of them exchanged vows in country wedding at Lange Farm in Dade City, Florida. All of the bridesmaids and the bride herself wore brown leather cowgirl boots to fit the theme.

The now happily married couple look back on the traumatic event that occurred five years ago and acknowledge the silver lining that has changed their lives forever. The horrifying experience brought them together and gave the firefighter and his new wife a happily ever after.
