It's almost every kid's dream to walk along the beach and one day find a message in a bottle! A five-year-old in California gets to live that dream after stumbling across the rare find.
Little Ryder Goggin was walking along the beach with his mom when he decided to cross over the creek. There, he found a peculiar object: a glass bottle, with a cap that read 'Original New York Seltzer'.
They struggled to open the bottle at first, to get to what they thought was inside. Ryder's mom, Heather, thought that the piece of paper inside could have very well been a pirate treasure map, but what they read on that piece of paper was much more valuable.
It read: "Hi my name is Chris. I am 10 years old and in the 5th grade. I live in Sacramento. Call me when you find this to let me know where it washed ashore. September 5th, 1988." Included in the message was a phone number.
Unfortunately, the number was disconnected, but the search for this 'Chris' was only beginning. After a search through records at the Library of Congress, there was still no Chris with that phone number to be found. However, Heather remains optimistic about finding helpful information that will lead to this mysterious 10-year-old!
