Every parent plans for when their child is going to leave for their first day of school.
Mom Courtney Scott had many ideas for when her son Carsyn would attend kindergarten, but sadly none of them can happen now.
In 2012, when Carsyn was 15 months old, he accidentally drowned in a koi pond at a neighbor's house. Courtney and her entire family was devastated by the tragedy.
Courtney didn't know how to cope with the loss at first. After some time, she decided she wanted to do something to honor his memory.
On the day that Carsyn would have started kindergarten, Courtney went to the school and walked into the building in honor of her son with donations in his name.
She wanted the moment to be big, so she needed all the help she could get. She started the Facebook event Carsyn's School Supply Drive to see if her friends and family would be able to donate.
Courtney wound up collecting and purchasing $1,500 worth of school supplies — markers, pencils, and wipes — to donate in Carsyn's name. She filled up dozens of laundry baskets and brought them in!
If you thought this mother was inspirational, you will also love this mother who donated a record-breaking amount of breast milk in honor of her late son.
