Mom Draws A Heart And Sun On Daughter’s Hand To Remind Her She’s Not Alone

Some kids are fearless and fiercely independent — they are able to go to class, after-school activities, and even friends' houses without a second thought about being separated from their family.

But others need a little bit of help feeling totally at ease without Mom and Dad around.

There are plenty of ways for families and their kids to feel connected with each other while they are separated.

Some families set up times to call their little ones to make sure they are alright, while others pack cute little lunch-box treats to surprise them with.

But one mom found a surprisingly sweet and simple way to make her daughter feel safe while she's at school.

All she needed was a marker to make cute little hand tattoos, and her daughter was instantly cheered up — how amazing is that?

Check out her entire explanation via Facebook below.

"If your child struggles with separation or new situations. Perhaps going to school, nursery, a friends house, then this is perhaps something you could try," she begins in the post.

"My daughter gets quite anxious in various situations; one of them being on rainy days at school last year.

"As much as she was supported and reassured she still struggled to cope during indoor wet playtimes.

"One rainy morning during the last school year, she started to feign sickness and was very upset. We talked about it and no amount of reassurance helped."

"I drew a heart and a sunshine on my hand and explained to my daughter that if I drew one on hers too, that at anytime she felt sad or worried during the day, she could look at it and know that I had one on my hand too…

"That we were connected, that I was thinking about her, that she was safe…

"And that even though it was raining, the sunshine was still shining on her hand and in her heart."

"Little anchors like this are a great way to stabilize feelings of anxiety and keep a connection throughout the day. Great for a first day at school or on those wobbly days."

"If you have a child who is worried it may wash off when they wash their hands, then you can always draw it on the wrist."
