It all started when one mother decided to share a seemingly harmless photo of her kissing her child on the lips. The mother in question is a bit more famous than most: fashion designer and former Spice Girl, Victoria Beckham.
The celebrity mom posted a picture on social media of her kissing her daughter Harper Seven on her 5th birthday.
For many, the show of affection was nothing but a mother being sweet on her little girl. However, others found the image offensive. Those who saw it called it "gross," "disgusting," and, "weird." Even TODAY show host, Matt Lauer was disturbed. A similar reaction occurred when a father took a nude photo with his sick son during bath time.
"I do not kiss my kids on the lips," Lauer said. However, most others, including Dr. Roshini Rosh, didn't find it offensive at all. In fact, it seems that those who choose to sexualize the kiss are projecting their own perversions onto what's happening.
"I think kissing anyone on the lips is a sign of affection and love. I don't think there's any harm in showing love and affection to your children," the doctor told Inside Edition.
Now, mothers all over the world are shutting the haters down, by sharing photos of smooches with their little ones!
"I find it deeply upsetting that people are now being abused for publicly showing their child love and affection. I will never ever stop showering my child with affection, they are a precious gift and one that should be treasured every day," said one mother.
Please SHARE if you think these photos are beautiful, not offensive!
