Strangers’ Children Demand That Boy Share His Toys. When He Refuses, Mom Defends Him On Facebook

When we're young, we're taught that sharing is important in forming bonds with others and that it can even lead to friendships. Being able to share allows us to cooperate and function in society. But most importantly, it's a nice thing to do!

However, mom Alanya Kolberg is saying that sharing may be caring, but only under certain circumstances. An incident involving her son Carson prompted her to defend her point of view on Facebook, allowing many parents to weigh in for themselves.

According to Alanya, Carson was playing with toys at the park, waiting to surprise a playdate friend. Before the friend arrived, about six other boys took notice of his toys and asked if they could play with them.

She says that her son was visibly uncomfortable and refused to share his two toys with the group, who were total strangers' children.

When the kids told their parents about Carson's refusal, the parents gave Alanya dirty looks. She stood by her son's decision, claiming that, while sharing is important, boundaries need to be set when it comes to strangers.
