In our lives, there seems to be a natural order of how we progress, and which stages come first. Many people believe, for example, that marriage must come before having children, though this isn't the case for many families.
Another example is how one must go to school, then college, before finding a career.
But one that most people seem to agree on is the natural order of life. Parents die before their children, as they are older and may fall ill in later life. It is every parent's worst nightmare to lose a child in their lifetime.
Unfortunately, many parents have experienced the heartbreak that comes with losing a child. Kami Chapa and her husband lost their son Hayden at just 3 years old. They were warned that his microcephaly and other associated conditions wouldn't allow him to live past the age of 10.
In the hospital, just before the toddler passed away, his mother sang a special goodbye song she had originally prepared for her grandmother's funeral. Every time she practiced this song in front of her son, he stopped to listen to her.
Now, though the Chapas are devastated by their loss, they are thankful for all the support they have received, not just from friends and family, but from strangers around the world.
In this dark time, the overwhelming support has given them hope and courage. It also makes them believe they are helping other families who may be going through a similar difficulty. They even started a GoFundMe campaign to help families going through similar situations, making sure they, too, know they are not alone.
