We've seen frugal folks before, but never quite like this. Meet Jeni, a busy mom who's been pinching pennies since she was a little kid. Thanks to her equally frugal father, she now "thinks outside the box" when it comes to saving money around the home.
Jeni has come up with a creative way to save money on her family's pool and on her family's laundry. Since pool chemicals are similar to the ones found in laundry detergent, Jeni washes her and her children's clothing in the pool. Plus, she says, running the laundry machine costs money, too. Despite her kids' embarrassment, Jeni forges on with her unconventional cleaning techniques. Oh, and she also uses baking soda to clean the pool itself.
Just wait until you see how Jeni rigged her skimmer. Hey, it's great for homeowners on a budget, especially since it can cost up to a few thousand dollars each month just to maintain a backyard swimming pool.
But seriously, you can't make this stuff up.
