When the devastating earthquake hit Nepal last month, 28-year-old Dolma Tamang faced her worst nightmare. She was pregnant and set to give birth any day, when the quake hit. For days, she was buried under her house when it collapsed on top of her.
Miraculously, she was able to gain enough strength to dig herself out of the rubble. She was scared and alone when health workers found her — just as she was about to go into labor! She was rushed to the nearest clinic in Melamchi.
She gave birth to a healthy baby boy, according to the British Red Cross.
"Even though we lost almost all of our belongings and live in a temporary shelter, I could not be happier and more thankful for this little miracle," Tamang told the BBC. "This baby being born healthy is a sign of hope and second life for our whole family."
Last month, soldiers rescued a 4-month-old baby boy from rubble left by the devastating earthquake in Nepal. More than 8,000 people died. On Wednesday, another quake struck the region, leaving another 70-plus dead, according to reports.
