A clear, glass bottle filled with a couple of very personal messages drifted unnoticed across the waves of the ocean for years, until it was plucked from the sea by the hands of a stranger exploring Blake Island.
Four years ago, two dreamy newlyweds spilled their love for each other onto several pages of white notebook paper before sealing their words away from all eyes and sending them off into the unknown… well, a marina to be exact.
Mattie and Jake wanted to share their strong feelings for each other at their wedding, but being on the reserved side, they kept their messages private, instead of doing traditional vow readings.
"These were things that we wanted to say to each other," Mattie explains in the video below, "and not even read aloud in front of our family and friends."
"And now these strangers have read some of our personal thoughts, which is cool," Jake chimes in, humor coating his words.
The messages in the bottle contained their excitement for what their future would look like together, words of encouragement and admiration for each other, and lots of inside jokes.
At the bottom of the notes, the pair signed their first names, leaving a short-lived mystery for the woman who found their love letters.
The woman took her sleuthing to Facebook, where she was able to uncover the couple's wedding website. After finding Mattie's mother, the woman reached out to let her know she'd found the bottle, but the message was lost in the folder until her mom accidentally stumbled upon it six months later!
The lovebirds have now reclaimed their messages and, as private as they are, are happy they were able to share a page of their love story. If you love a good mystery solved, be sure to SHARE this couple's unique story with your friends.
