58-Year-Old Nicolas Cage Reveals Excitement Over New Baby: ‘I Miss Singing Lullabies’

Most men would probably have some mixed feelings or feel hesitation about becoming a dad near their 60s. Nicolas Cage is not one of them.

The 58-year-old actor is looking forward to his third round of daddy duty after announcing that his wife, 27-year-old Riko Shibata, is expecting their first child together. Their bundle of joy will join Nic's older kids, 31-year-old Weston Coppola with ex-girlfriend Christina Fulton and 16-year-old Kal-El with ex-wife Alice Kim.

In an interview with Access Hollywood promoting his new film The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, Nic gushed about all the great things ahead as he prepares for his third child.

When Nic was asked about how he's feeling about fatherhood at this time in his life, a smile immediately spread across the actor's face.

"I'm extremely excited," he shared.

Nic explains that he didn't realize how much he misses the moments of young childhood until getting the news. With his two sons at 16 and 31, Nic has been watching his relationship with them evolve.

"My boys are all grown up, and I miss going to the toy store," he shared.

"I miss singing lullabies and rocking in the rocking chair. I’m looking forward to getting back to that."

He was equally elated when he spoke to GQ, where he's the April cover star. He even revealed the names he and Riko have in mind for their baby. They're thinking to pick Akira Francesco for a boy and Lennon Augie for a girl.

"Augie was my father's nickname. And my uncle [director Francis Ford Coppola] has decided to change his name to Francesco,” he said, showing the interviewer the two-month ultrasound on his phone.

"I think it's so sweet. It's like a little edamame. A little bean."

Nic and Riko were married on February 16, 2021. Nic chose to honor his late dad by getting married for the fifth time on his birthday. It's clear he wants to pass a little piece of their relationship onto his next born, due the first week of September 2022, the actor told Extra.

"I enjoy being a father and taking my parental duties seriously."
