Nicole Kidman Reveals The One Thing She Really Regrets: ‘I Wasn’t Given That Choice’

Nicole Kidman has accomplished a tremendous amount in her life: She has starred in over 60 TV shows and films, has won numerous awards, and is happily married to Keith Urban and the mom of four children.

Despite that success, Nicole recently revealed that she has one major regret from the last 25 years of her life. Unfortunately, it's the type of regret that she can't really do much about.

Nicole told Marie Claire Australia that she will always wish she had been able to parent more children. "I wish I’d had more children, but I wasn’t given that choice," she admitted. "I would’ve loved 10 kids."

She went on to add that, happily, there are lots of kids in her life. Nicole is mom to four: Isabella Jane Cruise, Connor Cruise, Sunday Rose Kidman Urban, and Faith Margaret Kidman Urban. She also said, "I get to mother other children. I have six nieces and nephew and I’m godmother to 12."

Nicole added that being a mother is very important to her. "I love mothering, I love kids: they’re quirky, funny and unfiltered," she said. "And then you get to see them grow and send them on their way."

That's not the only personal thing Nicole opened up about. She told the magazine that meeting her husband was a "miracle" that seemed so unlikely. "Two Aussies born in the same year, but living in different worlds and cities, how did that happen?" she said. "It was meant to be."

Nicole also recently told Jimmy Fallon about the day Keith Urban proposed to her in New York: "He sat on the stoop of my New York apartment. I came out at 5 a.m. in the morning, and it was my birthday, and he had flowers. And that was it. I was a goner. I'm like, 'Yes I'll marry you!'"

The two first met in 2005, but as Nicole told Ellen DeGeneres, it didn't seem like Keith was into her at first. "I remember thinking, I had such a crush on him, and he wasn’t interested in me," she explained. "It’s true! He didn’t call me for four months."

Keith later explained that he didn't think Nicole would really be into him. "I’d never have thought she’d see anything in a guy like me," he said. "But, at some point, I plucked up the courage to call those numbers and she answered, and we started talking and we talked and talked and talked and talked and it was effortless."

The two got married in 2006 and welcomed their first daughter together in 2008. Their second daughter was born in 2011.

Nicole one said that the key to their relationship is protecting the life they have together. When they're both not working, they turn the rest of the world off: "Keith and I are very good at immediately clicking off because we have a really good life in Nashville that’s very simple, quiet and nourishing because we’ve made it like that."
