Thanksgiving pageants are a staple of most elementary schools. Most of us remember dressing up as a Pilgrim, Native American, or (if we're the chosen one) even a turkey. There's something adorable about seeing kids dressed up for their Thanksgiving pageants…unless you're the kid.
If you're the kid, then there's something a little strange and exploitative about a bunch of adults forcing you to put on an awkward costume, memorize some silly songs and then get up in front of a room full of strangers who want to take your picture.
