Fitness Worker Tells Mom Her ‘Belly Is Hanging Out’ And Kicks Her Out Of The Gym

Melissa Mantor couldn't believe it when she went to her usual gym in South Carolina. The comment that a staff member told her left her embarrassed and humiliated.

One of the workers at the gym told Mantor that her "belly was hanging out." The mother was around 18 weeks pregnant at the time. The staff member told her she was violating the gym's dress code. She had never heard of this before, and it was the outfit she always wore to the gym.

In fact, Mantor believed the outfit revealed more skin before she was pregnant since her bump holds the shirt down.

The worker gave her a large black T-shirt and said that if she didn't change immediately, her membership would be terminated.

"The only variable is that I'm now pregnant," Mantor told ABC. "I've worn that shirt to work out many times."

The gym claims to be a "judgment-free" zone, but the comment about her body left Mantor feeling deflated. Perhaps if the worker approached things differently, she wouldn't have felt so embarrassed.

"I don't understand how they can claim to be a 'no-judgment' gym and then pick and choose who to judge," she said.

The gym stands by its policy, but Mantor has since ended her membership. What do you think of Mantor's experience? Let us know in the comments!
