Why Reese Witherspoon Stays Clear Of Ex Ryan Phillippe Now That Their Kids Are Grown

Reese Witherspoon reportedly tries hard to stay away from her ex-husband, Ryan Phillippe.

According to insiders, the two no longer get along. Now that their two children, Ava, 23, and Deacon, 19, are grown, the exes barely communicate.

It's definitely not by accident, either. Reese is apparently very intentional about keeping Ryan at a distance.

According to RadarOnline, there is no more kindness in the relationship. "Reese and Ryan maintained a civil relationship when they were making decisions about their children — but that's gone now," the source told the outlet.

It seems that Reese has concerns about the way Ryan leads his life, which is why she chooses to stay completely out of it. "Reese still sees Ryan's life is messy, and she doesn't want to be drawn into it," the source said. "She doesn't care for him — or see the need to be buddies."

It may not be completely unfounded, either. The source also claimed that Reese is disgruntled about being subpoenaed to testify in 2019 when Ryan's ex-girlfriend, model Elsie Hewitt, 26, accused him of battering her. He denied the allegations, but settled the matter out of court.

According to the lawsuit, the actor “braced his body and violently threw her down his staircase as hard as he could" after an argument. Elsie did provide some possible proof in the form of photos of the injuries. The lawsuit also alleged the he used “cocaine, ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms, and steroids.”

While Reese hasn't publicly talked about Ryan's personal matters, it seems that his girlfriend felt she would still make a good witness. She added her to her witness list. But seeming to want to keep his ex-wife out of it, the actor settled just days before the suit made it to court.

Reese, being the class act that she is, hasn't talked badly about her ex. But she's also been pretty busy killing it career-wise with endless noteworthy projects on the small and big screen.

After she and Ryan split, Reese remarried to talent agent Tim Roth in 2011. They have one son, 10-year-old Tennessee.
