Seth and Nicole first met when Nicole went canyoneering for the very first time. At the end of the trip, they reached Teardrop Canyon, a tall, steep drop.
Since Nicole had never done this before, she, reasonably, got nervous about her footing, and slipped.
She fell about 10 feet before Seth helped catch her from falling to the ground. He then explained to her exactly how to make it to the ground, safe and sound.
Once she got there, she was a little embarrassed, and ran off away from Seth instead of giving him a proper thank-you. She did, however, tell her friend that she was interested in getting to know him better.
A year later, Seth and Nicole are in a loving, committed relationship. However, Nicole doesn't yet know exactly how serious Seth is about the two of them being together for the rest of their lives.
When they returned to Teardrop Canyon on their one-year anniversary, Seth had an elaborate scheme set up, and Nicole was the only one who didn't know what was going on.
He had to make sure that she was the last one to come down to the bottom of the canyon so that he and his friends could set up before she joined them. When she gets close to the ground, she spots a bunch of flowers near his backpack, and realizes that her friends are far, far off in the distance.
Then, he asks her…
