Server Goes To Check On Pregnant Mom, But Hears Her Making Strange Sounds In The Bathroom

Eric Bailey and his pregnant wife, Heather, made dinner reservations at Tuscany, a restaurant in Salt Lake City. They were celebrating Valentine's Day a little early, since there baby was due on the actual holiday.

That's when Heather felt it — the contractions.

“I had kind of intermittent contractions through the first two, three courses,” Heather told Fox 13 in 2016.

She decided to go to the bathroom to sort things out. After a few minutes, Eric asked the waitress, Sydney Malmrose, if she didn't mind checking on his wife in the ladies' room.

When she walked in, she heard Heather. The mother was in labor at the most inopportune time.

“I was calling from over here, ‘Heather, you doing OK?’ And heard some definite labored noises," Sydney said.

Heather was sitting on the floor, ready to give birth. The server remained calm, as she had helped deliver before. Sydney ran to get Eric and told the hostess to get some towels.

Eric arrived just in time to catch the baby.

“By the time I'd run downstairs to grab a bag of washcloths, we came back and the baby was crying. It all happened so fast," hostess Jacie Slaymaker said.

In the course of a few minutes, the Baileys had their new baby boy. They joked that the food was great, but the service was even better!

“We never ever thought we would say we had a baby inside of a restaurant, but, yeah, apparently he didn’t want to wait,” Eric said.
