Rhema Marvanne was only four years old when her mother, Wendi, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Instead of shielding his daughter from her mother's pain and suffering, Rhema's father, Teton, included her in emotional hospital visits, knowing Wendi felt strength from Rhema's presence, and vice versa.
Wendi passed away in 2008 at the age of 36. But instead of taking this heartbreaking experience and letting it launch her into the depths of despair, Rhema and her family used it in an inspiring and special way.
In the midst of the pain and grief, Teton taught Rhema to sing "Amazing Grace," which was a simple task: Rhema began singing as soon as she could talk, and music coursed through her veins.
Rhema felt an innate calling to pursue her passion for Gospel singing. Inspired by her late mother, Rhema began recording successful gospel and non-secular songs.
In 2009, Rhema found Internet fame after recording a video for her first song, "Amazing Grace," which you can see below. It's no wonder the performance went viral, with 20 million YouTube views.
