A Dad Builds A 3-Seated Rocking Chair To Read Bedtime Stories To His Kids

When I was a little girl, I absolutely adored my dad.

We did all kinds of fun things together — like play silly games in the pool, watch cartoons together every weekend, and sing tons of songs together just like this delightful daddy/daughter duo.

Yet, my favorite memories of daddy-daughter time involved stories. Every night I'd sit in his lap while he'd read me my favorite stories. This nightly ritual was very important to me as a child, as it helped me develop a love of reading at a young age and inspired me to become a writer as an adult.

That’s why this invention made by a dad named Hal Russell Taylor really touched me.

Unlike my dad, who only to handle me, Hal has three little kiddos who all wanted a good seat at story time. But how do you get three kids on one lap?

Hal found a way — and let me forewarn you — get our the tissues before reading on, because this one is sure to make you shed a tiny tear…

“I did not have a lap large enough for three children [so] I had to come up with something,” Hal said on Facebook.

So when his third daughter, Rose, was born, he decided to create a solution to the problem.

“When Rose was born, she proved herself to be the ‘communicator’ in the family… She was NOT going to be left out of the reading crowd!”

Hal decided to create a three-seated rocking chair, which he dubbed “The Story Time Rocking Chair.”

“Now, all three children could have a comfortable seat when reading”

“I have heard it said that children change your life more than you change theirs. I believe that to be true”
