Rupert Grint Joins Instagram Just To Give Us A Glimpse Of His New Baby Girl

Rupert Grint, whom most of us know as Ron Weasley from the Harry Potter films, had a baby! While we heard the buzz that his baby was born a few months ago, Rupert hadn’t given us a glimpse of the little one yet. This week, he joined Instagram so he could finally introduce his daughter to the world.

In his very first Instagram post, the actor wrote, “Hey Instagram… only 10 years late, but here I am. Grint on the Gram!” The 32-year-old new father shared a picture of his daughter and let us in on her name. “Here to introduce you all to Wednesday G. Grint. Stay safe, Rupert.”

Even though Rupert has only one picture on the gram thus far, he already has 2.3 million followers. We’re guessing most of them are devoted Harry Potter fans, though Rupert has done more acting than that. He also starred in the film Servant, alongside another Harry Potter actor, Tom Felton, who played Draco Malfoy.

It's hard to believe that Ron Weasley is all grown up! But Ron, er, Rupert totally is, and he just had a baby to prove it. It's a lot for our brains to handle. But either way, we're so happy for the 32-year-old actor, who seems to be doing great.

Rupert's baby was born back in May. We learned that his daughter's arrival took place on May 7 of this year. But we hadn't seen the baby until now. So far, we only get to see the back of her head, but now that Rupert is on "the gram," hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of him, his wife, and his new baby girl.

Rupert is in a longtime relationship with actress Georgia Groome. A rep for the couple told People about the baby's birth in a statement. "Rupert Grint and Georgia Groome are delighted to confirm the birth of their baby girl," the rep said at the time. "We would please ask that you respect their privacy at this very special time."

The couple have reportedly been dating since 2011. Georgia is also an actress. She had a starring role in Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging. Clearly, the two have a pretty solid bond, and they likely have a ton in common.

Rupert has previously talked about the prospect of becoming a dad. "Turning 30 felt strange. It just doesn't feel like I'm there yet and I don't know what the future holds," he told The Guardian in 2018. "I'm just going to go with the flow, keep playing interesting characters, and see what happens. I'd like to settle down and have kids soon."

Now that Rupert is a dad, he has plenty of people offering congratulations. Tom Felton was one of the first to leave a comment on Rupert's Instagram, sending well-wishes to the new father. "Welcome Weasley, It's about time. Love to Wednesday xx," he wrote, invoking his character from Harry Potter.

Lots of people are commenting about the baby's adorable name, and we have to say, we're definitely big fans! Rupert has previously joked about using the name of his character in the Harry Potter films if he had a son. "If I had a son, would I call him Ron?" he joked. "It's quite a good name, but probably not. And Grint's a tough name to pair a one-syllable first name with."

It's still hard to believe that Rupert Grint is old enough to have a baby! We still remember him as Ron in the first Harry Potter film, as clear as day. That's the struggle with being a child actor, though. People have a hard time letting go of those iconic characters. For actors, it can be really tough to reinvent themselves.

Rupert didn't struggle there, however. The director and executive producer of Servant, M. Night Shyamalan, said that when Rupert auditioned for the film, everyone was blown away. "He came in and auditioned, and I just saw a different person," Shyamalan told the audience at the Servant premiere in New York last year. "I don't know if I've ever seen this kind of reinvention from child actor to adult actor in my life, it's amazing."

Clearly, Rupert has a lot of versatility when it comes to acting, and that's what makes for a lasting career in the business. For now, it looks like he's enjoying plenty of sweet baby snuggles. Congrats to Rupert and Georgia on their sweet new addition. And welcome to the world, Wednesday!
