3-Year-Old Starts Picking Up Other People’s Trash. Today He’s $10,000 Richer

Little Ryan Hickman isn't exactly like all the other kids. He's had a specific goal in mind from a young age and continued on to create his own business. Not many 7-year-olds can say the same.

According to ABC 10 News, "Ryan Hickman's dad says Ryan's passion started when he was just 3 and a half because he enjoyed taking cans and bottles to the recycling center so much."

That enthusiasm for saving the planet quickly grew into something much more.

In the video below, posted on February 9, 2017, the excited 7-year-old says, "I recycled 200,000 cans and bottles!"

He quickly got his friends and family involved. This larger net of people working on recycling people's trash made it easier to get the job done.

Ryan explains, "If it's like, me, my dad, my mom, and my grandma doing it at the same time, like, one bag will be gone in, let's say… two minutes."

Once Ryan realized how much good he was doing along with how much money he was making, he decided to take his recycling up a notch. The San Juan Capistrano, California, boy created his own website, RyansRecyling.com. All donations sent to the website go directly to the Pacific Marine Mammal Center in Laguna Beach, California.

The tiny community activist has expanded his reach and has even saved $10,000 for college, all thanks to his passion for recycling.

What's next for Ryan? Maybe his own garbage truck.
