Ryan Wang is a 5-year-old piano prodigy from Vancouver, British Columbia. His incredible God-given talent has already made him a viral superstar and has taken him to Carnegie Hall and all across the globe. But his biggest fan lives right near his hometown.
Dorothy Landry was a 101-year-old grandmother who had been a huge fan of Ryan's since she first heard him perform at the age of three. Even though she had seen him perform before, she was hard of hearing and never got to fully experience the sound of his piano playing. In 2013, CBC Music set up a very special surprise for this very special woman. Dorothy was invited to Ryan's private concert and got the closest seat possible for this unforgettable performance — seated right at the keys alongside her favorite musician.
The bond between these two unlikely friends is simply undeniable. You can tell how much this performance means to Dorothy, and vice versa. One YouTube commenter says, "You can tell how mature this kid is, amazing for being only 5. How he gave the women a hug, he had so much emotion, trying to not cry. Not to mention his piano skills. Amazing. High Five!"
