It seems like the third time isn't a charm for Ryan Seacrest and Shayna Taylor. The popular host broke up with his model girlfriend for the third time, and it seems as if it happened somewhat recently.
The news was confirmed by his rep. "Ryan and Shayna decided to end their romantic relationship amicably some time ago," the rep said to People magazine. "They remain good friends, each other's biggest supporters and will always cherish their time together as a couple."
But it seems as if Ryan isn't all that bent out of shape about it. He's currently taking a vacation in Mexico and is already dating someone new. Based on pictures of the couple, the new girl has blond hair and actually looks a lot like Shayna. Prior to dating Shayna, Ryan was with Julianne Hough. So it's safe to conclude that Ryan has a type.
That said, it still must be tough to move on based on the fact that Ryan and Shayna were linked for seven years. They first started dating in 2013 and were linked for 18 months. That year, they even celebrated Thanksgiving together. And according to Heavy, Shayna met Ryan's family. So back in the day, things were very serious.
Their first public event was on the red carpet for the MOCA Gala in 2017. Within time, they also began living together in Manhattan. But just this May, Ryan admitted that their relationship was often rocky. So it's possible that they had issues that they just couldn't get past.
He even mentioned it to a wide audience — specifically, everyone who happened to be watching Live With Kelly and Ryan. First, he admitted that their relationship had hit a milestone. "I just want to say, happy third anniversary to Shayna," he said. "It is our third time together. So we've gotten together, broken up, gotten together, broken up. This is number three of being together. So we're celebrating as well."
After Kelly Ripa called him out on the statement, Ryan admitted, "It's an eight-year run, but it's our third run together," adding that they "celebrate each trial." During that time, he also admitted that it's been a lot like a roller coaster, with Kelly seemingly agreeing. "Listen, nothing's perfect," Ryan stated. "You just keep trying until you get it right."
At least he was able to joke about it. "You know, when we drive by an amusement park, I always look at the roller coaster and go, 'Look, there we are,'" he said. "It's all definitely upside-down loops. It's no Thunder Mountain, it's definitely the Mind Bender." However, it seems like he may have changed his tune since.
In fact, because he said those words in May, it's possible that those comments may have been the beginning of the end. It's hard to figure out why they didn't work out as a couple, but some insiders believe that they may not have been on the same page. Shayna reportedly wanted to get married. Ryan, however, might not have been ready.
In general, Ryan seems to be mostly private about his love life. But it does seem like he's the type to commit to someone for a long time. His relationship with Julianne Hough lasted for three years. Reportedly, they split only because Ryan was so busy.
A friend of Ryan's talked to Us Weekly and confirmed that his packed schedule had a lot to do with it. "Dude works all the time," the friend said. "He never sleeps. Work always, always came first. [Julianne] wants a more low-key life." The source also commented, "It's a lifestyle she couldn't handle anymore."
That said, it seems like Ryan is still very supportive of Julianne, even though they weren't able to make it work. While Julianne and her husband, NHL player Brooks Laich, recently announced their own separation, Ryan was initially thrilled for Julianne when she got married. "I know this family and they are terrific people," Ryan said. "Super talented, she is, so congratulations, Julianne! Happy to see you happy."
Ryan even shared a clipping of the wedding on the show, and he commented that Julianne "looks stunning." So it's apparent that he really values the people he's with and doesn't wish them any harm. (However, now's a good time for them to reconnect, if there's still a spark.)
As for Shayna, she hasn't had the opportunity to announce or comment on the breakup just yet — but based on her Instagram account, it looks like she's doing just fine. Her account often talks about love, life, and how grateful she is for weekends. She's also a budding photographer.
"By surrounding yourself with people who have similar goals, life views and hearts as yours, you will push yourself to grow and become the best version of yourself," she wrote in a June post. "I encourage you to reflect on your own circle (whether it be in real life or those you follow on social media)— and choose to surround yourself with those who push you to do better and to be better."
She's also focused on how good, nutritious food can really help aid your mental health. So from the looks of it, she's working hard on trying to move forward and stay as healthy as possible. And who knows? Maybe they'll have another chance to rekindle their relationship in the future when they've both been on their own for a while.
No matter what, Ryan will always have a relationship with work. Already a popular radio and event host, Ryan had a major breakthrough hosting American Idol and quickly became a household name. People were really drawn to him. In an interview with GQ, he revealed how many jobs he actually has. "I've got three radio shows, American Idol, red carpets for E!, the production company, hosting New Year's Eve, the clothing line, the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, so nine … close to ten," he stated. And that was well before his job on Live With Kelly and Ryan.
While it appears as if he's already moved on, it's always tough to tell with Ryan Seacrest. He's always got projects in the works, and he seems to manage his relationships pretty well. But it's safe to say that whoever becomes his next long-term girlfriend might need to truly be cool with his intense schedule.
