Sailor Surprises His Young Son At School After Seven Months Apart

For members of the military with young children, it's not easy being away from home for long periods of time. They may miss some key moments in their lives, like their first day of school, or their first ball game. Many parents argue that these formative years are important for not just the kids, but for the parents, too. Those serving our country make a huge sacrifice by not just jeopardizing their safety, in many cases, but by leaving their families behind when all they want is to be at home with them.

Petty Officer First Class Stephen Recar had been away from his family for the past seven months, on deployment on the USS Kearsarge. That means that his 4-year-old son hasn't seen his father in months, and undoubtedly can't wait for the moment they are reunited.

But when the little boy wasn't expecting it, he received the surprise of his life! Sitting in class at the London Bridge Baptist Church, he probably didn't know who the man in white was, at first. The stranger walked in with balloons covering his face, and all the kids could see were his pants. But the moment the man let the balloons go, the little boy recognized his face…
