Santa Holds AK-47 While Taking Photos With Kids. Why? I’m In SHOCK.

A gun range in Sandy Springs, GA will be hosting a family event this weekend in which parents can bring their kids to take pictures with Santa…holding a gun. Children also have the option of choosing which kind of firearm they want St. Nick to tote—an AR-15, FN-SCAR-17, or AK-47.

But don’t worry folks, if a kid is under 18 years of age, Santa will be hoisting the automatic weapon, not Junior. Families are also encouraged to bring canned foods, which the range will donate to charity.

The stunt is receiving as much controversy as Paul Rosolie, the man who was eaten alive by an anaconda to raise awareness for endangered rainforests. In fact, when Atlanta’s Channel 2 Action News broke the story, viewers quickly began to fire off their opinions on the station’s Facebook page.

Some commenters think the move is “pretty tacky,” others claim that if you “don't like it, don't go,” and a few feel that the media frenzy surrounding the story is only drumming up more anti-gun propaganda.

“There used to be a gun hanging on the wall in every household, even with toddlers running around in their diapers,” said one commenter. “Older boys used to bring their hunting rifles to school to go hunting in the woods behind the school at the end of the day.”
