When Mandy heard a knock at her door, she considered not even answering it. Not expecting company, she didn't know who could possibly be at her front door, so she assumed it was advertisers.
A friend who was over at the time convinced her to answer the door. When she did, she couldn't contain her excitement: Her boyfriend, Sgt. Trommer, was home from the Marines.
Upon seeing him, Mandy almost collapsed, grabbing at the door for stability. Her boyfriend told her to come outside where they hugged for multiple minutes. Mandy said, "Is this real?" while giggling uncontrollably.
As they hugged, Mandy stood outside in the snow wearing only tights on her feet, seemingly unaware of the cold — she was just too happy to see her boyfriend.
Then Sgt. Trommer told Mandy he had a present for her. He pulled out a ring box and got down on one knee, asking, "Amanda, will you marry me?"
Without hesitation, Mandy said yes and jumped into his arms. She was totally overwhelmed by emotion. "It doesn't feel real!" she yelled.
When they went inside, Mandy couldn't stop squealing. Once she realized what had just happens, she broke down in tears of happiness.
