One routine trip to the doctor drastically altered the life of this Richmond, VA, family.
Initially visiting with a simple rash, their son Noah was later diagnosed with leukemia.
It is every parent’s worst nightmare to have their child diagnosed with a severe illness and have to go through as many acute treatments as Noah has had to go through since his diagnosis.
But he has remained resilient throughout the series of transfusions and chemotherapy, further exemplifying how strong children can be in the face of severe illnesses.
He is also unable to reside anywhere other than the hospital and his own home due to his incredibly frail immune system.
But in light of this trying circumstance, the family’s friends and community have come together to do what they can to help out.
Noah’s school, St. Edward-Epiphany Catholic School, created a heartwarming fund-raiser in his name to benefit the many medical bills that the family suddenly had to face.
A GoFundMe account was also created to raise money, pulling even more people into the cause that is creating light on the family’s dark time.

Noah Cross was simply visiting the doctor with a rash when he was diagnosed with leukemia.
The second grader at St. Edward-Epiphany Catholic School in Richmond, VA, has since had to sacrifice his normal childhood to treating the sudden disease.
Since receiving his diagnosis, he received two blood transfusions, three platelet transfusions, and multiple rounds of chemotherapy all in a matter of weeks.
"Basically, he has no immune system, so we don't go anywhere," told Noah's mother Deb Cross to ABC. "We go to the clinic and then we go home. He just wants to be a kid, but he can't."
Due to his weakened immune system from the chemotherapy, he is confined to the hospital and his home, making it impossible for him to play with his friends, run around outside, or attend classes at school like a normal second grader.
Though he is unable to see his friends and attend class, his school is attempting to keep him connected by having a teacher visit his home as much as he is comfortable.
They even created a fund-raiser to help the family with their medical bills.
During "Buzz Cuts for Noah," friends and family shaved their heads and donated money to show their support.
A total of 37 students, two faculty members, and some of Noah's extended family graciously showed support to the family by shaving their heads.
The event raised $2,500, giving a little bit of positivity to a sudden and somber situation.
The GoFundMe account "Noah's Road to Recovery" has also raised over $11,000 so far, due to the donations from loved ones as well as kind strangers.
Though Noah is still on the road to recovery, the efforts made by his school shows how much he is missed and that they are there to support him and his family along the way.
Though instances like these do arise and create stress and strife, they also serve to highlight the individuals who selflessly stand by their side and offer aid wherever they can.
