Ever since she was 3 years old, Colette has loved dogs. But while she loves all puppies, she's always had a special fascination with the Shiba Inu. Their little almost foxlike bodies have been an obsession of hers for many years now.
Colette's parents promised her that when she turned 6, she would be able to get a Shiba. But life happened and with things needing to be fixed around the house, Colette didn't get her puppy, but she never stopped loving the breed.
She hung posters around her room of Shiba Inu puppies and learned as much as she could about them. She even wrote an essay for school! For her 9th birthday, her parents knew that no matter what, they had to own up to their promise.
After picking Colette up from camp, her parents drove almost two hours to a farm where there were a ton of gnomes. Colette thought they bought her a gnome for her birthday, but when they brought her inside, she got her real surprise. You can see how she reacted when they put the pup in her lap. She will never forget that day!
