Soldier Finally Meets The Son He Watched Wife Deliver Via Skype

Army Corporal Greg Bacon’s worst fear as a soldier was being deployed when his wife was pregnant and/or delivering their baby. In 2010, his biggest fear came true. Greg was stationed in Iraq when his son, Dean, was born via C-section. But thanks to the power of technology, the new father was welcomed into the operating room to watch the birth unfold live and comfort his wife, Jennifer.

Not only did Greg get to watch Dean's birth from 6,000 miles away, but millions of people got to watch Greg watching the birth, too. Microsoft’s "Empowering Us All" commercial featured Dean's Skype-session delivery during the Super Bowl that year. The ad was a huge hit. But the most exciting part of all came was when Greg was granted a two-week leave from Iraq to meet his newborn son, as captured in the touching video below. "He's a spitting image of his father," Jennifer said.

While Greg praised his wife wholeheartedly for being so strong while he was away, Jennifer says the same about her husband. "What he does every single day, I'm just so proud of him and every single thing he does." Nearly three years later, Greg returned home for good.
