Soldier’s Heartwarming Surprise Brings His 9-Year-Old Daughter To Tears

Nine-year-old Macenzie Rampley got the best birthday present ever on Wednesday.

During her class, Macenzie thought the class was celebrating her summer birthday, but her teacher had a much bigger surprise in store.

The third grader hasn't seen her father, Sergeant Eric Rampley, since he was deployed to South Korea with the U.S. Army nine months ago. When he found out he'd be coming home earlier than expected, he along with his wife Suzie and his daughter's third-grade teacher, Melissa McPhail, came up with the idea for the soldier to surprise his daughter.

He put himself into a big box that was presented to Macenzie during class. When she opened the box and saw her dad, she cried tears of joy.

After months (or years) away, there is nothing sweeter than a soldier's surprise homecoming. The reactions from the unsuspecting family members, like this girl who got surprised by her solider dad during a spelling bee, are always priceless.

For little Macenzie, this is going to be one birthday she'll never forget. It's going to be difficult to ever top this one!

Sergeant Rampley will be home for a month before returning to South Korea for another deployment.
