This video shared by Wonderbot on YouTube tells the story of a mother who discovered that her son hadn’t attended school for a week and was shocked to discover the reason behind his truancy.
Emma Spencer wasn’t dealt the easiest of hands. She was a single mother raising her son Theo after her husband Clark died of pneumonia. Emma was a stay-at-home mom before her husband’s death and she had a difficult time landing a job that would support both her and her son, who was 10 years old at the time.
A couple of years down the line when Theo was 12, he insisted to his mother that he was OK to walk to school alone. Emma wasn’t fully comfortable with this because she thought her son was still too young, but she gave him a phone and notebook full of important phone numbers and allowed him this privilege.
A few months went by and Theo’s grades seemed to be slipping and he started lashing out at his mom. On a Friday afternoon, Emma received a call from Theo’s teacher inquiring about his week-long absence from class.
Emma was utterly confused. How could Theo have skipped school for an entire week and she had absolutely no idea? She called her son to question him about his absence and when he finally picked up, she heard a mysterious baby crying in the background.
Emma couldn’t figure out what exactly was going on and why her son was suddenly taking care of a little baby.
