Superman is easily the most recognizable superhero around the world, out of any hero out there.
Even though Superman isn't actually real, his heroic actions in comic books and films have inspired many people.
Adults and children love this hero and idolize him. It helps that his costume colors are red and blue – who doesn't love that color combination?
As most children do around this time of year, Kaylieann Steinbach got ready one morning to take her school picture.
Her parents, Austin and Jami, laid out some clothing options for Kaylieann to pick from. But this opinionated little girl didn't like what they chose.
So she picked out her own outfit, which has created a huge buzz online after her father posted the adorable picture on the popular website, Reddit. Their little girl chose to be a superhero!
Kaylieann's love for Superman is so strong, not only did she dress up as his cousin, Supergirl, she brought her Superman action figure with her to picture day!
"Miss Kaylieann has always loved "pooterman/pootergirl" as she has profound hearing loss in both ears and cannot hear "S"s. But during September, we went to the San Francisco Comic Con, and she went as Supergirl to that and refused to take off her costume since," Austin, Kaylieann's dad told LittleThings.
Five months ago, Jami and Austin learned that Kaylieann has 75% hearing loss in both of her ears. She has the potential to become 100% deaf, as the hearing loss is degenerative and can continue over time.
"We just got the news from her audiologist five months ago and are learning ASL now and love it. While I personally don't believe it has affected her in a negative way in her daily life, as she had this hearing loss for over a year before we were able to diagnose it and was still able to keep up with all the other children in her preschool class," Austin told LittleThings.
Kaylieann might love Superman and Supergirl most, but she is a fan of Marvel and DC — just check out her perfect Spider-Man costume!
"Daddy may have had the most influence on her love for all things superhero — we even have a batman car seat, believe it or not."
"Now that she, her mom, and I are learning ASL it is so amazing to see how much her learning sign has opened up her expressiveness and vocabulary. It's so heartwarming to see her grow and become herself. We've started attending deaf groups and get together once a month, and it's helping her confidence in signing tenfold," Austin said.
Within days of posting the picture, hundreds of comments have poured in, and people have offered support for Kaylieann's deafness. It's amazing to see what one cute photo can do!
