Animator Dad Makes Superhero Short Film Starring His Kids

Daniel Hashimoto loves being a dad, but while most parents are content to just play along while their kids pretend to be superheroes, he really took his imagination to the next level. With the help of his friends, he turned his son, James, and his baby daughter, Sophia, into real-life superkids through the power of some seriously awesome animation.

Plenty of little kids dream of having superpowers, but for most of them, the closest they come is dressing up in their favorite heroes' costumes. This kid got a 3D-printed bionic arm from Robert Downey Jr. himself, but not many kids actually get to visualize themselves as real life heroes. But since Daniel loves to work with animation (and so do his supremely talented buddies), he spent some time making his son's dream into a reality…at least on film.

Everything about this mini movie is great, from the special effects, to the plot, to the adorable kids playing around with their "superpowers!" It almost reminds me of an X-Men or Avengers prequel. Just like this cop who dresses up as a superhero to inspire kids in his community, Daniel is doing a great job to encourage his kids to dream bigger and imagine more. But even if you don't have the time or skill to make a mini action movie starring your kids, just playing along with their crazy games is plenty enough! We might not all be able to turn our kids into real superheroes, but we can definitely make them feel like they are.
