Teacher Thinks She Is Getting An Award, Then Her Students Tell Her To ‘Say Yes’ To Boyfriend

Torrie Buehne, a teacher at Stanton Elementary School in Fenton, MO, was in for a big surprise when she sat down at a recent assembly.

A school assembly was called to award Buehne with the "Love Is the Key" award. They invited her to come sit in the middle of the room and watch a short video that would explain why they think she's so deserving of the award.

Her students are unable to contain their excitement as the video begins. "Hello Stanton," the principal says in the video's opening. "We all know here that love is the key. But I wanted to know if our Stanton leaders really knew what that meant, so we set out to ask a few of our Stanton leaders what love means to them."

The video continues with students sharing their definitions of love. As you might expect with elementary school students, their answers vary widely. Some say simple things, like "Love means caring" and "Love is helpful," while another goes deep, saying, "Love is putting someone's needs before yours."

The last student in the montage says, "Love means you're gonna get married," and then the video moves to a clip from Disney's Frozen, in which Anna and Hans sing "Love Is an Open Door."

At that point in the video, it switches from Disney's animated characters to Buehne and her boyfriend, Brett Wolf, singing the song in a home video. The song ends with the line, "Can I say something crazy? Will you marry me?" Then Buehne's students come onto the screen, yelling, "Say yes! Say yes! Say yes!"

Then Wolf appears, down on one knee, proposing to her in front of the entire school. Want to know what she says? Watch the video!
