When we heard 13-year-old Sicily Kolbeck moved into her very own home, we were skeptical. The Georgia teenager had a clear vision in her head, so when she asked her mother for permission, she couldn't say no. Sicily's very own home was part of a school project assigned by her teacher — who is also her mother. The mom admits she never expected her daughter to complete it, but a life-changing event made Sicily determined. The house in question? A tiny home built right there in her mother's backyard.
You see, when Sicily first began the project, it was with her dad. However, soon after he passed away. Sicily was determined to show him, wherever he is, that she could do it all on her own. The tiny home is 128 square feet, complete with a kitchen and a bathroom. We have a feeling Sicily is one of the coolest kids at school. How many teens her age get their own private retreat from their parents? Although Sicily isn't trying to get away from home, if anything, the project has brought her closer to it, with all the help from Mom and Dad.
"After my father passed, I realized I wasn't going to be doing it with him anymore," she told USA Today. "So I kind of continued on to show him what I could do and to kind of show him, so that he could be proud of me wherever he was."
See the stunning home, and please SHARE if you're impressed with this precocious little girl!
