Firefighters Rescue Hero Teen Who Saved His Neighbor’s Dog From Drowning

We would do anything to keep our pets safe  but how far would you go to keep another's safe, too? For many, it wouldn't be easy to come up with the answer without knowing what danger they would be putting themselves in, but one teen already has the answer: he would, without a shadow of a doubt, risk his life for any animal. After all, he already has!

Sixteen-year-old Nick Travis was as unprepared as can be when he heard what was happening to his neighbor's dog. Lazy, Tom Arkin's poodle, had somehow found herself in the icy waters of a lake. The 8-year-old pup was barely hanging on when Nick, only dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, made a split-second decision. He raced out to the lake, and jumped into a paddleboat. The hero teen got to Lazy just in time, right before she would be submerged.

But there was just one problem  Nick had no way of getting back to shore. Firefighters arrived on the scene to see the teen and the poodle cold but safe inside the paddleboat.

Lazy isn't just the family pet: for the Arkins, she is what's left of Tom's in-laws, who passed away within two weeks of one another. She is very dear to the couple  but Tom insists that losing Nick would be much more tragic.

As for Nick, he says that he would put his life on the line again in a heartbeat!
