When someone tells you that you're about to see the inside of a royal's room, you'd probably be expecting gold flake and decadent crown molding. Overstuffed chairs and photographs of foreign dignitaries. Maybe some animal heads from a decades-old fox hunt and a bed the size of a swimming pool.
But that is not what then-teen Prince Harry's dorm room looked like. At all.
The Duke of Sussex apparently did a professional photo shoot back when he was a student at Eton, one of the most posh boarding schools in England. According to Cosmopolitan, Eddie Redmayne and Tom Hiddleston are also among its former students. But while you might think or hope that Prince Harry's dorm reflected his elite status as one of the most powerful young people in the country, that is hilariously not the case. If these recently resurfaced photos prove anything, it's that all boys — regardless of status — are basically the same.
The room you're about to see could legitimately be any high school boy's room. Buckle up.
To start, let's keep in mind how respectable Harry is these days.
He's been all over the news since his highly televised May wedding to American actress Meghan Markle.
The two spend their days dressing nicely, smiling nonstop, and shaking hands with the biggest movers and shakers on the planet.
But the mature, dapper royal you see above was not always quite so polished.
Drum roll, please: Now presenting Teen Harry!
On the one hand, it's almost exactly what you'd expect. But on the other, he's so littttlleeeee.
In a series of hilariously posed photos from his days at Eton, Harry can be seen acting like a "typical" kid. Here he is above, posing with a skeleton.
And here he is making toast, all by himself! No fancy butlers here.
And of course, he spent time polishing his military boots, just like any other young soldier would.
But the real, concrete proof of Harry being just another high school kid is in this photo:
There's a lot to digest here, so we're going to break it down.
First, this stereo is an absolute nostalgia bomb. Tape decks? CD changer? Thanks, Harry, now we all feel really, really old.
But more to the point, there is this photo of a bikini-clad woman hiding off to the top left.
And there, front and center, is Halle Berry posing seductively, right in the middle of a cheap wall hanging. Nothing has ever been more "bro"!
Of course, it's not all rock music and cleavage. Tucked to one side is a sweet photo of Prince Harry's late mother, Princess Diana.
Everyone's having a good-natured laugh online about the photos, and can you blame them?
To compare adult Harry to high school Harry is putting a smile on a lot of faces — even if it's just to point out the ravages of time.
And thanks to all the throwback decor, others like us are stuck feeling like we're about a million years old. Ugh.
