Ronnie Joice happened to stumble upon a poem at a London bar and it resonated with him so much, he shared a picture of it on Twitter. The poem has now gone viral.
Upon a first read, the poem appears to be a rant with one negative thought after another:
“Today was the absolute worst day ever
And don’t try to convince me that
There’s something good in every day
Because, when you take a closer look,
This world is a pretty evil place.”
But, at the end, the reader is told to read the poem again, this time from the bottom to the top. The result? Pure inspiration!
The poem's whole meaning completely changes, turning from negative to positive, like this backwards love note.
While Joice found the poem in the United Kingdom, the original author is a high school student from New York named Chanie Gorki. The poem was previously posted on PoetryNation.com.
The student's mother, Dena Gorkin, told ABC News that the poem was written as part of a school assignment. The teacher asked the students to write about a bad day, but the clever student decided to include the special twist.
"I was floored," she said about her daughter's poem. "[That] a 16-year-old was thinking this deeply was really impressive to me."
