There's a thing that people who decide to cheat often don't understand until it's too late. When you cheat, you have to spend a lot of time and energy looking over your shoulder. You never know when the other shoe is going to drop.
Sadly, some people don't see that and get a little too confident with their infidelity. A Texas police chief is suffering the consequences of his own actions after his mistress decided to expose him as a cheat.
The scorned woman in question is Cecily Steinmetz. Cecily thought she was in a loving relationship with Jason Collier, until she found out a darker truth. Not only was Jason still married, but she wasn't the only woman he was deceiving. Armed with the truth, Cecily decided to leave a review on Jason's department's Facebook page letting them know what kind of representative they had in charge of their community.
A married Texas police chief was exposed as living, at least, a triple life. It all started on Tuesday when a woman named Cecily Steinmetz posted to the City of Stinnett, Texas, Facebook page. Under the area used for recommendations and feedback, she dropped a story that would shock people way beyond the local area.
"Chief Jason Collier is living a double/triple life," she began her post.
"I was his girlfriend until yesterday," she revealed.
"He lied to me and presented me with fake annulment documents when I found out he was married. I also found out about a 2nd girlfriend, Kristi, last night."
"He has lied to us, our children, and asked us both to marry him," she continued.
"He is a poor representative of your town. He would also visit me in Amarillo when he was on shift. We just returned from vacation in Taos on Sunday – meanwhile, his other GF was told he was on work assignment in Portland, OR."
If all of that wasn't enough, she shared pictures of Jason and his wife, Opal. She also shared pictures of herself and Jason. There was also a photo of the phony annulment papers he showed her.
The story instantly started getting some serious buzz. Three women had been wronged by this man, a supposed pillar of his community. While there were some men there defending Jason, most reasonable people agreed he was scum.
The story is already pretty wild, but that's just the beginning. Cecily posted about it on her own page, which generated a lot of conversation.
We learned that Jason's current wife, Opal, is not his first wife. His first wife didn't want to comment on the situation, but people noted she didn't seem altogether surprised by his behavior.
A woman named Angie Cogdill Bowman came forward on Cecily's post claiming to also have a story about Jason. She said he'd gotten her caught up in a similar situation back in 2007.
Heather Owen also came forward, explaining she'd only seen Jason for a month before catching on to his lies.
A coworker also commented and noted that Jason was going through similar drama around 2005-2006. According to radio station Y107, the coworker said Jason was caught cheating on his wife with an 18-year-old girl. It's unclear if it was his first wife or Opal.
In the midst of all of this, yet another woman came forward saying she was currently involved with Jason. As this story started to come out, he told this woman, Katie, that he couldn't see her anymore.
As if all of this isn't messy enough, a woman was being tagged in the comments as all of this unfolded. People believed this to be another fiancée — a woman named Sarah — but she has yet to publicly respond to any of the multiple tags on the post. If she is, she would be the third woman currently engaged to Jason, and that's not counting his wife.
At this point, about 17 women have come forward as having been involved with Jason. The earliest was a woman who claimed to be engaged to him in 1998 but broke it off with him because he cheated. She said this was before he married his first wife. Another concerning appearance was by a 17-year-old girl, who said she was also involved with Jason but didn't disclose when.
The city of Stinnett was forced to come out with a statement after this story took on a life of its own.
"The City of Stinnett is aware of the current situation surrounding the Chief of Police Jason Collier," staff shared in a statement on Facebook.
"The city is taking this seriously and will be looking into any violations of city policy. Chief Jason Collier has been placed on administrative leave while the city investigates possible violations of city employment policy. As per city policy, we will refrain from commenting on any personal issues of personnel in a public forum."
Later, it was revealed that Jason had been arrested by Texas Rangers.
"Collier allegedly sent a text message to the victim with a fraudulent government record attached. The document was a fraudulent marriage annulment," Texas Department of Public Safety Sergeant Cindy Barkley told KAMR.
Jason was charged with tampering with a government document with the intent to defraud, a state jail felony.
Jason has since been bailed out and has resigned from his position, but this saga seems far from over. Facebook groups have popped up dedicated to finding out what's next. Of course, there are memes and jokes suggesting Netflix pick this up, because we're all totally invested.
