7 Things EVERYONE Needs To Thank Their Mom For…No Matter How Old You Are!

Thank you is the most underused phrase in the English language, and moms are definitely the segment of the population that deserve to hear those two magical words the most. As adults, we realize that our moms did countless wonderful things for us, but we rarely pick up the phone and recognize their efforts. This list covers just a few of the crucial and oft-forgotten things our Mommies did for us throughout our lives! Please SHARE this very special "thank you" with all of the wonderful mothers you know!

1. Thank you for the countless hours of lost sleep!

I don't just mean the nights you kept her awake when you were an infant. Chances are, your mom stayed up later than she needed to so she could watch silly late-night movie marathons with you on the couch over YOUR summer vacation. And don't even get me started on all the times you missed your curfew during your tumultuous teenage years, and had her worried sick!

2. Being our very first example of a female boss

People talk a lot about how Beyonce is a "boss," but you know who was even more authoritative and awesome? YOUR MAMA. She was the boss of you. Whether you were conscious of it or not, your mom was teaching you that women can be leaders from Day 1 with every decision she made on your behalf.

3. Picking you up when you fell down - literally and figuratively

She was there when you skinned your knee on the playground when you were three, and in your early twenties when you lost your job she was the first person you called. Our moms are instinctively the first people we look to when we're hurting for comfort and support. That's a huge responsibility, and she's always handled the job masterfully, as only a mom can.

4. For being your first friend, even before you were cool

No matter how close you and your friends or spouse are today, remember that your mom was sometimes the only person who would kick it with you when you were pooping yourself daily. Listen…you weren't exactly a conversationalist in your early years. Before you knew words, she had conversations with you entirely based in in sounds. A few months later, you may have had the same conversation about some strange topic that occupied your developing two-year-old mind three or four times. "But why don't earth worms have legs?"

5. For her limitless creativity

She was the one who made plane rides bearable thanks to games she invented involving ketchup packets and cheerios on the spot. Three snow days in a row? She'd help you imagine you were living in the world of an eskimo and build pillow igloos with you from sunrise to sunset. When you didn't have enough money, your mom improvised, helping you sew your Halloween costume from clothes you'd outgrown. Our moms taught us to make lemons out of lemonade.

6. For teaching us the importance of the word "sorry"

Think back: chances are you can remember your mom stringing a few simple words together when you did something wrong to another kid…"Say you're sorry." You didn't realize it then, but your mom was teaching you something that can solve many of your conflicts and problems as an adult. Turns out, "sorry" really is a magic word.

7. For nurturing our adventurous spirit, no matter what

When you were little, your mom told you that you could be whatever you wanted to be when you grew up…and that's how you grew your dreams into your passion…and hopefully, your career. It's our mom's job to help us figure out what we want in this lifetime, and it's our job to go out and get it.

They say that only mothers hold their child's hand for a moment, but their heart for a lifetime. If you need to thank your mom for any (or probably all) of the stuff on this list, or if you know a loving mom who deserves an extra special THANK YOU, please share this post with your friends.
